Ceramics Research Center

This was my first trip to the Ceramics Research Center and although it was small there was so much to look at and I got the chance to view art pieces that others talked about in previous blogs. I came across a piece by Beatrice Wood that I thought was really interesting. I had just recently watched a video about her in one of my classes and it was really cool to see one of her pieces in person. The work is titled 'To be Digested' and resembles a fish-like creature that appears to have swallowed a few people.

I also came across a piece the resembled a unicorn that I really liked.

  1. I've yet to see a unicorn form you Hillary - maybe the next project. (-:

  2. The one of the unicorn is really cute. It looks like the horn is made from a candle or something. I recall that you have an obsession with unicorns, so no doubt you really enjoyed seeing that piece.

The second piece is quite comical. I love the two guys on top. I wonder if there is some "romantic" tale behind it since there is only one woman, and she's surrounded by men. Perhaps she's about to be "digested" by the pack of men.

  3. I really want to visit the ceramics research center! I keep reading all these great posts about it. I like the work you chose to feature...I took ceramics for years when I was in high school and it's definitely not an easy skill to learn!

"To be digested" is a piece that I would be drwan to as well. I like the potential story hidden in it.
But not to forget the UNICORN,such an interesting twist on the mythical creature, it almost looks as if the artist tried to model it as a potential new hot wheels design. Very cool.
